Anyways, it’s been a long time that I've last shared something solid haha but before that just to keep you readers updated; Acts29 is undergoing a HUGE re-shuffling among members. All of you would know what’s going on by this Sunday at the cafeteria, and for the leaders, you’ll know by this Friday. I am very excited to see how things are gonna turn out. The least we could do is to be optimistic about everything. Let’s support one another =)
Ok my post today will be short compare to my others haha
Now leaders are called to be of greater standards and sometimes you have ‘to do more work than usual and sometimes sacrifice more than the others would’ I want to share something about ‘Meaningful Work’ =) I want all of you to feel encourage and excited about the work load that you have =)
The passage Ephesians 4:17-32 has loads of meanings. Every single verse or parable that has been written in the bible carries many different meanings. For example the parable of the prodigal son, that parable itself possesses many revelations. For one the parable tells us that if we were to ever turn away from God, God would wait patiently for us to come back to our senses and when we do come back to Him, He’ll joyfully welcome us back into His home just as the father in the parable did.
Besides that, it can also tell us how we are often similar to the eldest son of the father who was angry at his younger brother for getting everything even when he entirely disobeyed his father; where else the eldest son who worked a lot more harder, who always were more of the obedient and the loyal one didn’t get a single thing. But the elder brother secretly had the wrong motives. He worked while expecting things in return. It shows us how we often do things for the sake of expecting certain things to happen in return due to our hard work. We work hard to expect something in return instead of genuinely loving what we do.
For example, ‘God I have done this for you! Why am I not getting anything in return? i sacrifice this and that for you, I've done this for you and now this, why!?’ sound familiar?
So there are many meanings for each story or verse written in the bible but I want to concentrate on one particular meaning that this passage can show us; which is ‘Meaningful Work’
The key verse is ‘Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labour, working with his hands what is good.’ – Ephesians 4:28
Have you ever felt so sick and tired of doing something that you have to? For example studying? Or putting up with your love ones? Or simply just sick and tired of doing the same things over and over again?
Some people may even find their responsibilities or ‘labour’ so wearisome that they think it must be punishment from God. ‘Oh God I have so many things to do! Why aren’t you giving me enough time? Why aren’t you helping me out? Why aren’t you making things easy for me?’ - In Genesis even before sin entered the world, God gave Adam and Eve meaningful work to do.
In this passage Ephesians 4:28, we are given a list of actions that characterize those who belong to Christ. One of those commands was to ‘work for a living.’ (v.28)
The motivation given for work was not to accumulate wealth but to have something to share with others.
Are you understanding what I’m trying to say? – Ps Nicky hahaha =P
From biblical perspective, work is useful and most fulfilling when it enables us to help others.
Paul said ‘Let him labour, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give who has need’
Our work does have meaning, especially when we realize that is it God-given, and that we please Him when we share its fruit with others – Albert Lee
We make a living by what we earn; we make a life by what we give.
So the next time when you feel so sick and tired of things, when you feel that things are just so wearisome and you don’t want to do it anymore, remember that your persistence and patience will bear fruits. Bearing fruits Glorifies God and Glorifying God is one of the most coolest things to do! Making Him Happy is awesome! =D You make Him happy knowing that His time invested in you is worth it. I mention in one of my earlier posts that God has made a HUGE investment in you and He expects something in return. Bearing fruits are one of those things He expects such as soul winning, self-control, thought-control, patience and etc.
By bearing fruits you are glorifying your Father in Heaven, and as you glorify Him, believe me you will be bless ;) but if you think that’s good enough, imagine sharing your fruits with others?? For example if someone has an issue with anger, because you have first overcame anger and you bear ‘self-control’ (the fruit), imagining sharing that ‘self-control’ (the fruit) with others who are going through the same thing as you once did, wow you really are being the ‘salt and light’ of the world =) you’re making a difference in that person's life and you have given that person hope and faith; not only that, you have sowed a seed of faith into that person's life =) Harvest is just round the corner, therefore indirectly because you have shared your fruit with others, you bear another fruit, soul wining =)
WOW! bearing one fruit then sharing your fruit reaps another fruit! I JUST GOT THAT! Amazing isn't it!? Truly the more you give the more you receive!
By doing this you truly are shining for Jesus =)
Don’t ever give up on what you do =) you’ll be surprise how many amazing things you can do by just not giving up =)
Love you guys! Peace out!
